MENTAL HEALTH

Mental Health Is Health: Why Taking Care of Your Mind Is a Daily Practice
Published June 1, 2026 • By Nicole Fullwood

For years, I believed that being mentally strong meant pushing through exhaustion, hiding my emotions, and never asking for help. I wore busyness like a badge of honor and convinced myself that slowing down was a sign of weakness.

I was wrong.

Mental health isn't simply the absence of anxiety or depression. It's the foundation of how we think, feel, respond to challenges, and connect with others. Just as we nourish our bodies with healthy food and movement, our minds require intentional care.

Small daily habits can create lasting change. Begin your morning with gratitude instead of scrolling through social media. Spend a few quiet moments breathing deeply before the demands of the day begin. Set healthy boundaries that protect your peace. Remember that saying "no" to something that drains you is often saying "yes" to your well-being.

Healing doesn't happen overnight, and there will be difficult days. But every mindful choice you make is an investment in a healthier future.

Your mind deserves the same love and attention you give every other part of your life.

Reflection Question: What is one thing you can remove from your life this week to create more peace?
